Akilah is a member of the
Daughters of Rhea Dance Ensemble and a Piper Method Level II certified
dancer. This veil dance is her first
solo!

Dorise Iren is currently
working on a double major in Piano and Anthropology at McDaniel College. She choreographed this fusion piece drawing
upon her extensive background in Ballet and Modern Dance.

This tribal inspired duet
is performed by Piper Method Level I certified dancers Trilion and Cathy Evans.

| Facing East
Lisa Zahiya performs this modern
fusion piece inspired by healing. Zahiya
is a Piper Method Level II certified dancer and a member of the Baltimore Daughters of Rhea Dance Ensemble.

Daphna, Raina, and Naomi
are Blue Orchid. This classic American
Belly Dance choreography is their own creation.
Raina and Naomi are Piper Method certified Level I dancers. Costumes by Raina.

| Drum Solo
Bastet is a member of the
Baltimore Daughters of Rhea Dance Ensemble and a PiperMethod Level II certified
dancer. She creates her own costumes and
performs regularly at the Desert Café in Baltimore
and the Marrakesh in DC.

| Sword Dance
Sketches made by European
travelers indicate that the tradition of sword balancing by dancers in Egypt goes back
at least to the early 1700s. This
improvised piece is performed by Piper, the founder of the Piper Method School
of American Belly Dance and the director of the Baltimore Daughters of Rhea
Dance Ensemble.

The Daughters of Rhea
beginning group perform this American Cabaret style choreography by Piper.

| The Niraja Dance Company
A contemporary Lebanese style performance complete with spins and level changes, blended with urban fusion and a funky drum solo. The NDC is Jahazaal, Mahasin, Na'lani Dahlal, Sehar, and Yashawini.

| Shadow Dance
We are fortunate to have
Laila performing for us in her U.S.
debut. A world renowned dancer, Laila has performed at exclusive five star
nightclubs through out the Middle East, Europe, and Japan. She is also performing a double veil enchantment.

Zahiya, Akilah, and Trilion
perform this energetic up-tempo number to a song about living for today – with
gusto! Choreographed by Piper to the Turkish Karsilama rhythm.

Basema is a member of
the Daughters of Rhea Dance Ensemble.
She performs in local restaurants and teaches at the Serenity Barn in Reisterstown, MD.

| Mayada
Mayada has recently moved
to Baltimore from Boston, where she studied both Turkish and
Egyptian styles of belly dance. She
currently teaches at the MAC in Timonium.

| Tsang-Yang
Rivka Kumari and Zahiya are
members of the Tsang-Yang tribal troupe.
This duet is performed in the American Tribal Style which features
improvisation, with participants taking turns leading and following

| Lotus Niraja
Lotus Niraja is a Baltimore sensation, soloist, and director of the Niraja Dance Company. Performing a modern Lebanese style choreography filled with flair, strength, and elegance, Lotos combines the latest Lebanese dance movements with the Egyptian stylings of yesteryear.

Imagine an ancient temple
with priestesses dancing in honor of the gods.

Iren, Bastet, Driana Kai Avila, and Katiana perform this hieroglyphic inspired choreography by
Melina.

cane dance. From the polemic men’s
dances of Turkey to modern
stage presentations in Cairo, cane dancing is an
honored tradition in the Middle East.
