Piper is the director and producer of Belly Dance Magic, an annual gala of belly dance entertainment at the Baltimore Museum of Art. Her captivating Classic Cabaret style dance is a fusion of traditional and
modern Middle Eastern and North African dance influences. Piper began
performing at the age of 8 in her mother Rhea's troupe, Nar El Nissa (Women of
Fire). By the time she was 17, she was the featured soloist at several tavernas in Athens, Greece.
After a decade of working as a professional dancer in Europe, Piper returned to
America to create the PiperMethod™ School of Belly Dance, and the Daughters of Rhea with her sister Melina. Piper is also a PhD scientist, and the year 2000 winner of the
prestigious Belly
Dancer of the Year
Competition.
Piper designed and created this burgundy and green peacock costume, but it would not have been done in time for the show without the 11th hour help of Carla Artuso - thanks Carla!
