Hold for the first count of 4 & ah

8 counts of 4 & ah: 3 hops with Hip Lifts in one direction, walk back and stamp
For the first count of 4 & ah, standing on the right foot, lean the torso to the right, right arm up, left arm out, shoulders stay level. Do 3 large hops on the right foot towards stage left, with left hip lifts that are a combination of a Hip Swing and an Up-and-Out Hip Lift – the hip lifts on &, and drops on the beat for 1, 2, 3. On 4, step left foot to left and bring both arms down as you lean the left shoulder forward bringing the left fist in front of torso, hold for & ah. For the second count of 4 & ah, walk towards stage right stepping right, left, right on the beat 1, 2, 3. On 4 turn to face front and stamp the left foot while punching the right fist down in a pile driving motion, hold for & ah. Repeat 3 times. On the last 4 & ah, hold the punch and instead hit your right hip on the next 1.

2 counts of 4 & ah: 1˝ Figure 8s, pause and hit hip on accent
Scoop the right hip on the last & ah so you are ready to shift your weight to the left foot on 1 as you push your hips down and to the left while hitting the right hip with your right fist. Scoop the left hip on &, then shift your weight to the right foot on 2 as you push your hips down and to the right while hitting the left hip with your left fist. Scoop the right hip on &, then shift your weight to the left foot on 3 as you push your hips down and to the left while hitting the right hip with your right fist. Hold for 4 & ah with the right fist on the right hip and the left hand pointing to the side and down. Reverse, but finish by hoping forward in Turkish Posture on the left foot on 4 & ah, left hand to the left temple, right hand up and out to the side.

2 counts of 4 & ah: Box Step with Turkish Hop on accent
On 1, step right foot to your right and push right hip way out to the right. On 2, step left foot back while pushing hips back. On 3, cross right foot over left and push left hip out as much as is comfortable. On 4, hop forward on the left foot, tucking the hips under and pushing them forward into Turkish Posture. Hold for & ah. Repeat

2 counts of 4 & ah: Keffi Leaps moving towards stage left
On 1, jump weight onto right foot, twisting the right hip forward and pointing right toes in front of left shin, arms wave right above head. On 2, jump weight onto left foot, twist left hip forward and point right toes behind left calf, arms wave left. Repeat and hold left hip forward on 4 & ah. Repeat.

2 counts of 4 & ah: Posture Tilt with Little Jumps on accent
Turn body to face stage right, face looks forward, right heel of hand to right temple, left hand out to the side at rib level and slightly back so the audience can see your torso. On 1, jump forward onto the right foot in Turkish posture (i.e., knees bent, hips tucked under and pushed way forward). On 2, jump back onto the left foot in Exaggerated Egyptian Posture (i.e., chest lifted, abs in, hips pulled WAY back). Head, shoulders and arms stay in place. On 3, jump back onto the right foot in Turkish Posture again. On 4 jump back onto balls of both feet together, hips way back, palms pushing out from chest level. On & ah, jump back a little further, weight on the balls of both feet. Repeat with arms straight in front of you.

2 counts of 4 & ah: Walking Shoulder Shimmy
Step right, left, right towards stage right on 1, 2, 3. on 4, turn to face audience and dip right shoulder as you touch the ball of the left foot to the floor near the right foot. Hold for & ah. Reverse, finishing with the left shoulder down and slightly forward, the right hand at shoulder level, elbow bent close to the body, palm up.

2 counts of 4 & ah: Pelvic Tilts Swiveling Whole Body on Balls of Feet
Bang heels gently on the floor and do Pelvic Tilts hitting back on the beat for 1, 2, 3, 4, while swiveling to bring the right shoulder forward – the right hand comes down and the left palm comes up. Hold for & ah. Reverse direction.

1 count of 4 & ah: Hip Drops Layered with a Hip Circle
Standing on the left foot with the right toe pointed and the left arm high, push the hips forward and slightly right and drop the right hip on 1. On &, push the hips further right and to the side and drop the right hip again on 2. On &, push the hips further back and drop again on 3. On 4 & ah, push the hips back and to the left, completing the circle while bringing the heel of the left hand to your left temple.

1 count of 4 & ah: Hip Circles Stepping Side with Fist Accents
Start with weight on left foot, hips pushed left, left hand to left temple, right hand up and out to the side. On 1, push hips forward and right, stepping the right foot to the right in a toe-to-heel weight shift. On 2, push the hips back and left, stepping the left foot next to the right in a heel-to-toe weight shift. On 3, push hips forward and right, stepping the right foot to the right in a toe-to-heel weight shift. On 4, push the left shoulder forward and hit it with the thumb side of the right fist. On &, pull the left shoulder back. On ah, hit the thumb side of the left fist to the pinky side of the right fist.

2 counts of 4 & ah: Hip Drops Layered with a Hip Circle AND Hip Circles Stepping SideIn the other direction.

4 counts of 4 & ah: Wedding Step with an Egyptian Hip Lift Back on accent
Step forward with the right foot, leaning the upper body forward from the hips and Shoulder Shimmy for 1 & 2. Lean back from the thighs, hips tucked under in Turkish Posture and drop right hip twice on the beat 3, 4. With the weight on the left foot on & ah, lift the right hip up and back as you move up into Exaggerated Egyptian Posture. Repeat stepping towards stage right.

3 counts of 4 & ah: Forward-Step-Back-Step with Up-and-Out Hip Lift on accent
Start with palms facing you at clavicle level, stepping forward with the right foot and dropping the back of the right hand forward while bringing the palm of the left hand in. Swing the hips right on 1 as you step forward. Swing the hips left on 2 as you step the left foot in place while starting to bring the right hand back in towards you. On 3, swing the hips right while stepping the right foot back – the fingers of the right hand are pointing towards and nearly touching the right clavicle. On 4, swing the hips left while stepping the left foot in place – the fingers of both hands curl in. On &, the right hip lifts Up-and-Out while the fingers of both hands open. Do the first one facing forward. Do the second one with the body facing stage left and the head facing forward. Do the first one with body and head facing stage left. On the last 4 & ah, jump up with the hip lift, look forward and grab downwards with both fists.

1 count of 4 & ah: Hip Drops
Standing on left foot looking forward with body facing stage left, drop the right hip on the beat for 1, 2, 3, 4, while bringing the hands down behind the hips and back up straight in front of the chest. Hold for & ah.

2 counts of 4 & ah: Pelvic Tilts Stepping Side, switch feet on accent
Looking forward, body facing stage left, step the right foot towards the audience with a Pelvic Tilt back on 1. Step the left foot next to the right with a Pelvic tilt back on 2. Repeat while bringing the hands, palms out to the right shoulder. Reverse and turn to face front and bring the hands to the left shoulder.

1 count of 4 & ah: Arm “cuts”
Lean left shoulder forward and hit it with index finger of flat right hand on 1. Hit upper arm with pinky of flat right hand on 2. Hit forearm with index finger of flat right hand on 3. Bring left fist up to hit back of right hand on 4. Hold for & ah.

1 count of 4 & ah: Swinging Hip Drops
Keep hands where they are and push the hips back and successively further to the right with hips drops on 1, 2, 3, 4. Hold for & ah.

2 counts of 4 & ah: Scoop Figure 8s Stepping Side with Hip and Knee Lift on accent
This is like the Ma Ali Step with a Hip Lift instead of a Double Drop. Starting with the weight on the left foot, push the left hip down, out, up, and in, while stepping the right foot to the right. On 2, push the right hip down, out, up, and in, while bringing the left foot to meet the right. On 3, push the left hip down, out, up, while shifting the weight to the right foot. On 4, drop the left hip. On &, lift the left hip Up-and-Out and the left knee (do NOT let the left knee get far from the right knee or you will look like a dog at a fire hydrant!). On ah, drop the left hip and knee.

Notes: That is the complete choreography. Depending on your choice of music, you could fade your music as you dance off stage, or repeat the choreography on the other side. For Ali’s version of Rampi, the choreography is done once, followed by free dancing in a half circle, then a short version in the half circle, then the choreography again: after finishing the complete choreography the first time, use 6 counts of 4&ah to dance around, play with your skirt and get into a ˝ circle (Ali is singing oh oh oh oh, amaah, rampi rampi, rampi rampi, rampi rampi, galbineh). There are then 40 counts of 4&ah for dancers to take turns free styling in the center of the half circle. These 40 counts begin with a repeat of the above singing. The 40 counts end with the above + another oh oh oh oh, amah. With the next round of rampi rampi begin…

2 counts of 4 & ah: Pelvic Tilts Stepping Side, switch feet on accent
Looking to the center of the circle, step the right foot towards your right with a Pelvic Tilt back on 1. Step the left foot next to the right with a Pelvic tilt back on 2. Repeat while bringing the hands, palms out and thumbs in, to the right shoulder. Reverse and end with right hand near the left shoulder, the left hand down and in the circle.

1 count of 4 & ah
Lean left shoulder forward and hit it with index finger of flat right hand on 1. Hit upper arm with pinky of flat right hand on 2. Hit forearm with index finger of flat right hand on 3. Bring left fist up to hit back of right hand on 4. Hold for & ah.

1 count of 4 & ah
Facing into the center of the circle, keep hands where they are and push the hips back and successively further to the right with hip drop/twists on 1, 2, 3, 4. Hold for & ah.

2 counts of 4 & ah: Scoop Figure 8s Stepping Side with Hip and Knee Lift on accent
Keep in formation of the half circle and look down at your hip on accent, keeping hand back behind the dancer next to you.

2 counts of 4 & ah: 1˝ Figure 8s, pause and hit hip on accent
Hit the right hip with your right fist on 1. Scoop the left hip on &, then shift your weight to the right foot on 2 as you push your hips down and to the right while hitting the left hip with your left fist. Scoop the right hip on &, then shift your weight to the left foot on 3 as you push your hips down and to the left while hitting the right hip with your right fist. Hold for 4 & ah with the right fist on the right hip and the left hand pointing to the side and down. Reverse, but finish by hoping forward in Turkish Posture on the left foot on 4 & ah, left hand to the left temple, right hand up and out to the side.

2 counts of 4 & ah: Box Step with Turkish Hop on accent
Left hand to temple, right hand in front of your chest pointing into the circle.

2 counts of 4 & ah: Keffi Leaps in place
On 1, jump weight onto right foot, twisting the right hip forward and pointing right toes in front of left shin, arms wave right above head. On 2, jump weight onto left foot, twist left hip forward and point right toes behind left calf, arms wave left. Repeat and hold left hip forward on 4 & ah. Repeat.

On & ah, jump back a little further, weight on the balls of both feet.

1 count of 4 & ah: Walking Shoulder Shimmy
Step right, left, right in place on 1, 2, 3 and touch the ball of the left foot to the floor near the right foot on 4. Hold for & ah.

5 counts of 4 & ah: Hip Drops Layered with a Hip Circle (left first!!!) + Hip Circles with Fist Accents
Standing on the right foot with the left toe pointed and the right arm high, push the hips forward and slightly left and drop the left hip on 1. On &, push the hips further left and to the side and drop the left hip again on 2. On &, push the hips further back and drop again on 3. On 4 & ah, push the hips back and to the right, completing the circle while bringing the heel of the right hand to your right temple and your left hand in front of the elbow of the dancer next to you.

With the last Hip Drops in a Circle get ready to start the choreography again from the beginning.
